Default Buying Used Coils

Found some 884's for $50 off an '05 Tacoma.

They'd be going on my '03 4Runner. They look dirty, but that's about it.

Good deal or bad deal??

Sounds like a good deal.

Why are they pulling them from the Tacoma?

Coils should be what you see is what you get. Not much that can go wrong with OME coils. Price looks very good.

You might be the unlucky guy who gets one that breaks though....... J/K

I thought so too, he said he drove around on them for 1500 miles and had to switch over to 885's because he has a double cab.

I'm running 884's on my front suspension, and they work vey well (coilovers would still be an upgrade from OME 884's). I don't have any extra weight on the front.

If I get an ARB or SW bumper & winch, I will need to move up to the 885's or coilovers.

If you have no extra weight up front, the 884's at $50 are a screaming deal.

Scrub the dirt of with some soap & water. Examine and feel the surface of the coils. Check for cracks, rust, etc. If he only drove 1,500 miles, they are probably in perfect condition. I have about 40,000 miles on mine, so far.

Alright, got them in the mail today and all looks good. Now to assemble the rest of my lift...a few questions for anyone (if anyone) who reads this:

What are some different front shock options to go with the 884? I've already seen the OME Nitro Shocks, but i'm planning on going with the 5100 Bilsteins for the rear along with the 895's...are the any Bilsteins I can use on the front? maybe the 5100 adjustables set at stock height?

Cheers

The Billies are good shocks, but you will not have any use for the adjustable version, with the OME springs.

Exactly, I'd rather not buy adjustable shocks 'cause they're useless with the coils I just can't find any regular Bilsteins...or any other shocks to use other than OME's. I was trying to keep it bilstein all around.

any suggestions?
