Default WHere to save pictures and how to link them to the forum

Due to storage constraints the limit for attachments per user is 256KB (which is not a lot). We might upgrade this in the future and will update this thread.

In the mean time if you wish to post pictures on 120 you will have to host it on another webserver and then link the image to your post here. This is normally done using the follwoing steps:
- Open the picture on the website where it is hosted
- Right click on picture and chose properties (IE)
- Copy URL from properties box
- In 120 post window clcik on picture icon
- Paste URL into popup box

There are a number of FREE sites that work and allow direct picture linking. Below are a few (I might add later)
- cardomain.com
- photobucket.com ( Don't use them any more)
- flickr.com
- community.webshots.com

So do you minimize the pictures using your own software first, then save to the webspace? I haven't seen any resizing tools on Cardomain or Photobucket unless I just missing it somehow (would not be unusual for me )

Any free resizing software you'd recommend? (links?)

Just upload the pictures into cardomain. Their software automatically will make the pictures smaller. You then click on the picture on your page to enlarge it and copy the link back. Most of these websites will automatically resize the picture when you upload.

As a followup, I am using Photobucket and it seems to be easy to use and working well. The URL tags and options for resizing, rotating etc are easy to use too.

Photobucket also allows you to print your own pictures or you can order commercially from them, prints and CD copies.

You can also store the photos and invite select people to see what you have - if privacy is an issue.

Cool

Also, people on Windows XP can use the XP PowerToys resizing tool located here:

Microsoft Powertoys

They have some other cool things there as well. The best is the resizer tool though. It works wonders for lots of images that need to be resized fast. I can do the same through Photoshop, but I have to assign an action or a batch resize to the images. Takes longer than this handy little tool! Good luck and have fun resizing those images!

OK here is another option to upload pics adn show them online.

www.snapfish.com

What impressed me with this program is the speed with which it can convert and upload pics. AT least you can publi**** without all sorts of cookies and restrictions. Another nice feature is having the ability to have people get prints and even photo albums from it, at a pretty good price compared to printing it yourself. Anyhow see if it does the trick for you.

Besides it is owned by HP my company

So dont be shy post up pics

I do like the feature that you can order other items with your pictures on it like mugs, etc, etc.

I have ordered a bunch of pics and other stuff so I'll let you guys know how it turned out.

I just got my pics back from Snapfish, pretty fast turnaround. The quality of the photos are excellent,so I highly recommend them. The software works quick and easy (very fast upload of 8MP pics as it converts it very quickly). The prints shipped out fast, as I got them at my house a week after I uploaded and oredered.

FYI, Photobucket turned into a bunch of aholes and don't allow sharing any more without paying a premium. Maybe look into flickr or other service.
