WOW! I have been looking for this thread for days now. I really like your bumper/winch mounting and I was looking for ideas. Thanks for sharing.

Next question: Do you have salt on the roads in the winter? How is it after chopping up the bottom of the bumper? Do you get a lot of road debris in there?

hammer down the pinch weld at the rear of the well two thirds up
cut an 1.5" off the fender sheet metal
trim plastic flares to match
cut the body mount back
trim lower portion of bumper
trim an 1" off the rear bumper

..and it will still rub
Quick question: What did you use to cut the bumper and cut it with clean edges? I need to trim my bumper a bit but don't want it to look too much like a hack job.

i taped off a guideline
then i used a utility knife
and a file to clean up the edges
the grey plastic actually cuts real easy
(...not to sure about the painted panels)

Thanks! I was just going to marker the cut and cut it. Tape sounds a lot better. hahaha... I'm thinking of using a dremel with a small wheel. Hopefully I can get a clean cut.

looks great... I also got the same tires, and that's some massive trimming there.

How many miles have you been getting out of the MTZs? I hear they use a softer compound and wear more quickly than other M/Ts. What about on road performance and wet pavement? What kind of MPGs have you been getting? I have been considering them for summer and would like some input from someone who has been running them in the same terrain I am around.

Been getting roughly 30k-35k combined trail/city/hwy
As far as compound ...I don't know ...kinda sounds like opinion over fact
(...I've seen BFG a/t go bald in a stock Tahoe in 20k)
Some shoot outs give them top 5 or better
Others put them at the bottom
My 32"s chunked at 15k and wore horribly
But the 35"s were real troopers and hung in there till the end!

One of the BEST rain tires I've ever owned (...both sizes)!!!
No "squirm" in the sidewall when pushing it at higher speeds...

They run very quite... My passengers always remark how quite and smooth
the ride is after seeing the tread

My mileage went south a long time ago
I avg 15mpg

I obviously LOVE the MTZ... But some may feel diff.
It's small for a 35" at 34.6"x11.9"
Other than that... It's great...!

I can attest to this review as well.. great tires on my 2nd set of 305/70/R16 the last set ran a good 30-35k miles and the rear still had good tread the front bit the dust sooner due to lack of proper rotation intervals

No... I didn't
I only had enough time to run up Wheeler and after my little "mishap" first thing
I almost didn't make it back to Breck' on time
Still had a good time going up to the lake

Do you think your truetrac helps when descending ledges like poeple say a locker does? Say if a wheel is in the air or has less traction will the tire thats still in contact with the ground kind of freewheel if you arent on the brakes and make the descent a bit jerkier.
Been doing a lot of reading, but i havent found anyone saying much about the truetrac in this regard.

That's a good question
It's not jerky and I've never felt like it was getting loose
back there...
I've never really payed attention to how the locker and TrueTrac
work in that scenario
My personal technique is to modulate the brakes when
breaking over a ledge
That being said, the low gears made a huge difference in allowing
me to "creep" down a ledge... and... with so much weight over the front axle
the back doesn't feel like it's doing much other than holding
the line
I hope that helps answer your question
You were talking about dropping OFF a ledge, right?
Cause climbing a ledge while three wheeling it still gives me the push
I need it get up a square edge
