Great thanks Bulldog...One more question if I may?
I am pretty naive when it comes to the electrical modding but this looks very straight forward so I intend to proceed using a factory switch. However, I am just a little confused on this part:

"Now connect the wire to a switch with the other end to a good ground point. Every time you close the switch the VSC off light should come on and VSC should be disabled. When open the switch VSC will be enabled again."

So, I just solder into the "red with violet/blue whatever" wire, then run that wire to the switch somewhere? I'm not sure what part of the switch to connect it to. Then, where it says "connect the other end to a good ground point"...what other end? Isn't one end of the wire soldered, and the other end connected to the switch? Are there more than one wires required?

Again, I apologize for the naivity but want to get this right.

Thanks again,
Snes

Just did this mod on my 03 w/V8 yesterday and took it out for a try today - works great - many thanks.

fyi, both my Center Diff Lock and my "Center Diff Off" light come on, but the mod works good.

Another thing, if I'm grounding a wire from the ECU that has power via the switch, and if I add a wire from the third post for the light, which would normaly be a ground, but in this case I would have to run power to it would I not? If I am running power to that post for the light, is there any danger of this introduced power to cause damage to the ECU?

Thanks

Not sure I follow your question.

Let me try that again, first of all, thanks again for the info on this mod.

So I bought a switch with a light on it. I ignored the light and just made the modification which works well. I was just wondering if I could make it so the light on the switch would work in conjunction with the mod. I'm thinking the switch is not being used in the most common manor as we are running the closed contact to a ground instead of an application such as a light, then you would ground the third post on the switch to make the light on the switch work (if I have it right).
Now in this situation I'm thinking a ground on the third, or light, post will not do anything , but you would have to supply power to it?? (again, if I have that right). I'm concerned if you add power to the third post, would you not cause a problem back at the ECU??
I hope I have explained my thoughts properly.

Thanks

No it "shouldn't " backfeed From the center post. I would check it with a multimeter with continuity

Dears, i am newbie on this forumm but i used to drive y 4runner about a year.
Read all the topic, but didn't catch one thing. After switch was installed, once you pushed it and VSC is off - do you need to restart the truck to enable VSC or this mode will allow to enable\disable VSC without shutting down and restarting the truck?

Also, I got 2003 4 runner - this mod will not suit it, isn't it?
Thank yoг very much in advance for the answers.

Yours,
Denis

Mine is a 2003 w/V8. When I switch the switch on the "VSC Off" light and the icon/picture for the centre diff locked lights up. When I turn the switch off, all goes back to normal. I activate and deactivate this mod with out shutting the truck off. If memory serves me correct, it has been said you should NOT shut the truck off without deactivating the mod swith as this can confuse the computer.

Yes that's right, it all works without delay, when I turn the switch on the VSC & CDL lights come on, when I turn the switch back off, those features and lights shut off Immediately.

I want to try this very badly, but I want it to work as above. I have a V8.

Do the V6s only sometimes have both lights (VSC & CDL) come on? V8s get just the VSC light only?

Seems like there's a lot of variation in the results....

I just found this thread, thanks Bulldog for your write up. I have a 07 GX470 and really need this to work for me, What would I have to do for you Bulldog to figure out which wire I need to tap into? I have Pay Pal

I just need someone with experience to tell me which color wire I need to find and use

Many Thanks

How would I wire this up using this 3 prong led switch as a 2 prong without using led?

Wired ground to earth prong and blue wire to supply prong.
Wasn't expecting the switch led to light up but it did.
And here when driving, vsc Trac vsc off lit up only.

Did I do it right?

Just did this mod using the exact same switch. I ran the wire that was tapped into the red/funky blue wire to the "supply" post on the switch and ran a ground wire to the "load" post. I did not add a ground to the "earth" post because I didn't want the led lit. I put my switch in the little notch on the bottom right of the lower dash so it would be out of the way until I wanted to use it and it wouldn't be an eye sore on my dash.

Also the only lights that come on when I hit the switch is the cdl and the vsc off light.

I've switched my connections and only the center diff lock and vsc comes on now. No more led light switch.
