Default Rob's Elephant

good fun reading these posts. thanks. time to contribute.

this is my 3rd runner. I've owned a '90 sr5 4wd, a '04 sr5 4wd v8, and now I have an '07 limited with navi. it's shadow mica - a new color for the 4runner.
we do a lot of costal and run around the hill country for the weekends in our state parks and every once in a while on private ranches.

long list of mods...more pics and a few howto's in the works.
good times...

stock ride height.

Or if you have really serious aspirations you can follow Bulldog's lead and build up a custom machine that will lead the pack for years to come.

Awesome man!!

I really like the shadow mica color.. I was very close to going with it as well, but no one had one around here with the right options.

Congrats on the truck and happy wheelin'!

(I just ordered some Weathertech FloorLiners too.. I hope you like them and that I will; they have a clean, factory look to them.. and very useful!)

I like the weathertech floor liners. I have them up front, as you can see in the photo, and in the back seat floor too. I like the back seat floor liner because it's one peice and covers the hump. They're all cuped at the edges and seem to do a good job keeping liquids contained. And I really like the shadow mica, my other runners were black. The color gets looks. Going to be very popular. Not as popular as silver though.

I got the shrockworks sliders installed after work friday (yesterday) no pics cause it was dark and the flash photos just didn't look right. Kinda cold today after a front came through bringing rain and sleet so I haven't had a chance to take daytime photos. All and all it was a fairly easy install. Like a 2 out of 5. You need a decent floor jack and 2 14m box wrenches. Small spaces though and those ratchet style wrenches would have helped.
( Oh well...quarter turn, quarter turn, quarter turn... )

Wife said they rock so I guess I can't ask for more and probably don't need to explain how cool it was to hear her say that. btw, she's called all my runners elephants cause they don't drive or corner like her Acura. But she likes to drive it none the less. good times...

I'll post up pics when it stops raining.

I think I'll also post over to the bud built skids thread cause I don't think the two, in their current config, are compatible. But that's another thread and I don't have pics yet.

Love the sliders!

How are those tires? THey look more like blign than performance to me, but then again I'm often wrong according to some here.

Now for some dirty pix of the 4Runner.

They are bling. That's a fact. But I bought them for sand. And... I wanted to try something new. My other runners had ATs of various kinds. All performed about the same for the DD driving and weekend/vacation camping we do.

I like to run long costal camping trips and for the sand box walled AT's just don't perform as well as a rounded edge like on these tires. Other trips are mixed hill country with decomposed granite and lime stone rubble. And since I'm in Texas the weather can change in 5 minutes. I expect to run through my share of mud so I'll keep y'all updated on their mud performance.

I drove in the rain yesterday/today and with the runners high tech stability control and brake assist I can't say I was able to push anything so I noticed any difference vs. the stock HT tires. Time will tell...
