Default Full-Time rear power outlet

I know that some guys in this forum wired full-time outlets to the back for their fridges and other equipment. I don't remember if someone just switch the rear power outlet to full-time.
My goal is to have a full-time rear power outlet and if possible to control it by a switch (optional). I don't want to wire a new outlet there, just to convert the existing one. It should stay alive with ignition on or off.
I have fridge in the back and while I'm at the camping site it worms out. I can't let the truck running all the time (violation of campsite rules and too expensive on gas).
Does anyone know how to do it?

So you just want to make the rear outlet run full time of the main abttery? And have a switch to turn that functionality on and off?

See the relay location sheet
http://www.toyota120.com/forum/attac...6&d=1176187503

You want to remove the DC SKT relay on the backside of the junction box (fuse box) by the driver left knee side. Just take out the relay and put in a switchs between where pin 3 and pin 5 ws on the relay. Make sure it the wires and switch can handle 15A. Also keep in mind that the outlets will no longer turn on with the ACC, but only with the manual switch.

So removing the relay and adding a switch between pin 3 and 5 will resolve the issue. Looks simple. What if I just connect pin 3 and 5? Would it make my rear outlet live ALL the time?

Just remember that it will also keep your front outlet and compass on the mirror alive at all times too, AFAIK & IIRC.

That's no good. I have GPS permanently setup in front power outlet. Hmmm, need to resolve it.

It is easy enough to to remove the rear panels, install an outlet, pop out the wiring trays along the door sills and run a 10 gauge wire to the battery. If you lived closer I'd help you do it but trust me it is easy. After all of the other mods you have done this one is a must do for a fridge in the back.

Thanks Jim. I know it should be easy. I just have 1000x things to do and thought that I can jump 2-3 wires and the job will be done. Ok, in this scenario your way to do it is the best.

I understand about having so much to do. My Engel is still held down by cargo straps and I have the slide tray and everything sitting in the garage right now!

FYI; I did perform the constant power mod and also installed the extra factory cigarette lighter outlet with the ash tray. In my center console I now have one switched outlet (GPS on this one) and one constant (cell phone charger cord). The factory outlet in the back is now a constant outlet but I run my Engel off of the Optima battery outlets.
