Sorry if this has been asked in previous threads. (I looked but couldn't find an answer) Does a spacer lift give the amount of lift that the particular spacer size is? (i.e. does a 1" spacer give 1" of lift)

No, look at the geometry of the lower control arm in relation to the strut. The lift will be roughly double the spacer height.

Ok, but I don't get the LCA/strut reference.

LCA= lower control arm... Another one is UCA for upper control arm.
If the strut is lowered 1" the LCA will be also. If you look where the strut attaches you'll see the geometry thing...

LOL. I know what LCA's and UCA's are. I just wasn't picturing it. Thanks for the clarification though.

Has been discussed in a number of threadsin the past, guess a search will reveal some results.
To make it easy, in short: On the rear axle the spacer thickness = the lift gained exactly. On the front IFS due to the geometry spacer thickness would result in 1.8 to 1.5 times the lift height. I.e. a 1" spacer will yield close to 2" of lift. Larger spacers seem to yield a little less than the 2x factor i.e a 2" spacer will yield a little over 3" of lift. Also make sure not to use top spacers that are too tall and can sauce the balljoints to bind or hit the spring on the front IFS. |

Thanks bulldog! I don't think I have to worry about the spacer being too big though. I'm just gonna put in a 1" Cornfed up front to level out the ride, and give a little more room til I can afford a coilover system.
