Default Land Cruiser initials key

From reading about LC's I'velearned they were originally called BJ's then changed to FJ around 1959. I can ID the series by the numbers 40,45,55,60.. but I've noticed some additional initials listed lately, like FZJ-80 and HZJ-60 is there a decoder ring for LC names?

And there are still BJ designated LC's as well. We have a beautiful 1980 BJ73 in our showroom!!
I would absolutely Love to have it......but they want too much $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
For it.

BJ is diesel, FJ has a gasoline engine.
Up here in Canada we have a lot of 80's BJ60s. The same as a FJ60, just a diesel engine.

Thanks! It seems the HZ's are often in Australia and South America- are they also diesels?

It looks like the BJ60 is the 4Cyl Diesel, and the HJ60 is the 6Cyl inline Diesel.

http://forum.ih8mud.com/fj-cruiser/9...e-history.html

B = in line 4 cylinder diesel
F = in line 6 cylinder gasoline
H = in line 6 cylinder diesel
U = v-8 gasoline

J = assembled by Araco(Arakawa)
Z = 4 valves per cylinder

Thus, FZJ80 is an 80 series Land Cruiser with an inline 6 gasoline motor with 4 valves per cylinder.

for the 4Runner/Tacoma/FJC V6
1GR-FE is the code for

1 = First Generation of the block (2003)
GR = This is the engine family or GR-series aka Gas Research
F = Economy narrow-angle DOHC
E = Electronic Fuel injection

Thanks James, that's the most comprehensive explanation I've seen yet.
