Question Mojave Meal planning, suggestions???

This thread is just to get an idea of what people would like to do for our meals in camp(s) for Friday and Saturday night on our Mojave Road trip.

So, doe's everybody want to their own thing, have a group thing??? Do you want to have a gourmet cook off, a buffet??

Whatever your suggestions for our dinners, we can plan, if need be, here as to not clutter up the main thread with food talk.

Myself, I was thinking of either smoking myself (if I can find the time) or have it done, a few pounds (5-10 lbs) of ribs. If I can't find the time to do it, I might cheat and call up the Whole Foods here in Henderson and have them smoke them like Thursday night and put them in the fridge. I can wrap them up in foil and warm them up in the fire. Maybe some Chicken, Cajun style on Saturday night. Have to figure out what vegetables to cook.

Alcohol wise, I'll have a couple different strengths of Cruzan Rum, some schnapps, that unopened bottle of for Joel, left over from my 1st trip to Big Bear (BBB'06).

Feel free to chime in all!

I'm a vegetarian, so I'll be bringing my own food. I will, however, bring a couple beers to share.

What kind of vegetables are you planning on bringing? If we do do a group buffet style dinner, maybe someone can bring like a big vegetable dish or something? I was thinking of Petite green beans, or maybe grilled squash or something.

This is a good idea. How many people in total will be there and for which nights?

Lunch is normally a simple affair, but even breakfest can be simplified.

ANyhow, how many people will we have in total on this trip, and for which days? That will make it a lot easier to plan.

I think we need to shoot for a variety of dishes each night. SO someone can cook for 4-8 people, etc , etc with some side dishes. This gives the opportunity for people to sample various dishes.

Nice idea. I'm bringing smoked ribs and maybe I'll grill some squash or make some petite green beans for Friday night. I think I'll saute some Cajun chicken breasts and some vegetables for Saturday night.

As for breakfast, we can do something similar. I'm bringing the eggs in a bottle and I can make a whole mess of scrambled eggs, and maybe someone can cook up some bacon or sausage (sorry Mike). Also, maybe someone can have like a fruit plate with some pineapple, watermelon, blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, grapes etc....... That's my 2 cents

Man the more I look at these trail planning threads, the more we look like a buffet on wheels than anything else

Once we have a total count of folks we can work out the meal situation. I suggest we have a couple fo folks take turns for breakfest and dinner each time. Unless soem folks want to cook every meal.

As an example 3 cooks for every meal time, and some side dishes from other folks, etc.

Pending on the vote I can bring, korean short rib, steaks, lamb rib tjops, etc. I was thinking about smoking babyback ribs with a special rub and then just heating it up, but that will take up way too much space in the fridge. I will go look at options. I'm normally good with meat, but suck as salads, etc.

BTW I will bring my little weber gas BBQ, so somebody else can use it as well as long as they bring a gas stove and a ketttle or sommething to heat up water.

I'm not taking the hot water heater this time, but will bring a few tables (if I remember)

I'll bring two stoves. I don't have room for the BBQ, but my stoves don't take up too much space. I'm bringing the smoked ribs, but your infamous Korean short ribs sound good, I haven't had the pleasure yet. But, it's still a work in progress. Maybe we can get Wolfgang Puck out to wheel and cook for us.
