DIY Console light replacements by Photog

I just pulled the bulb from one of my switches, and it is the 8mm Type A.
It is a variable voltage circuit up to 14 volts.
The bulb is a T-1 (3mm) incandescent lamp, with wire terminals, designed for 14 volts (the bulbs can be purchaed for 5, 6, 12, 14, or 28 volts. You need the 12 or 14 volt models)
The wire contacts are part of the bulb, and have to be unwrapped from the socket.
The bulb comes out of the socket.
The bulb has a tiny colored condom (filter boot) on it, that could be moved to the replacement bulb.

Here is an explanation of how to replace the T-1 bulb, in the Neo-Wedge holder.

1) Remove the Neo-Wedge from its mounting location. Notice the little wires wrapped around the plastic.

2) Using a pointed tool, unwrap the wires from the plastic. This view shows the tool lifting the wire from the top, after dislodging it from the back. These bulbs are small, and my fingers are big, and that is the tip of a cheap knife.

This shows the wires unwrapped.

3) Straighten out the wires and pull the bulb out of the Neo-Wedge holder.

4) Remove the filter boot from the bulb, using you fingernail to push up from the back edge of the boot.

Here is the new bulb, next to the old parts.

5) Now trim the wires on the new bulb, to match the old bulb, slide the boot onto the new bulb, and insert the wires through the Neo-Wedge holder.

6) Wrap the wires around the holder, following the groves in the plastic. If you can't figure out which way they go, pull another bulb assembly from your instrument panel, to use as an example.

And you are done. Install it back into the instrument panel.
